CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT
The sun has fallen
Another day done without you
My heart keeps calling
And I don't know just what to do
When you're near me
I seem to forget my lonely days
It's more than a feeling
It's something that can't be explained
I Wish That I Was There
I Wish That I Was There
When you're not here
I Wish That I Was There
You were falling
Now I'm coming 'round again
I was calling
Cause without you it's the end
I just want to see you a little more
I just want to dream of you some more
I just want to see you a little more
I just want to be with you some more
I Wish That I Was There
I Wish That I Was There
When you're not here
I Wish That I Was There
And you make me feel
Won't you take me when you're not here
It's been raining here
And I just want you to be near
I Wish That I Was There
I Wish That I Was There
When you're not here
I Wish That I Was There
MEL
Mel sat in her office at 3CG the next morning, leaving Jason and Drew at home to study their scripts. She couldn't help but to feel refreshed and energized. Sometimes a crazy night is all you need to give you that extra little boost in the morning. She had felt so great, in fact, that she brought coffee and breakfast for the girls that morning. She knew they were on to her as far as her mood, but she honestly didn't care.
Then she remembered Taylor and that tugged at her heartstrings just a bit. She knew she should in no way feel guilty about her night with Jason but she couldn't help it. She and Tay were just getting to a comfortable,
and almost dangerous, place in their newfound relationship--whatever that relationship may have been--and she didn't want to ruin it. But hell, Natalie was already the big white elephant in the room. Why shouldn't she be allowed to have Jason around?
Mel had just booked Jason's plane ticket and gone back to reviewing merchandise orders when there was a knock on her door. She looked up to see Tay standing in her doorway. "Are you busy?" he asked quietly.
"You can come in," she invited him.
Taylor closed the door behind him and sat across from her.
"I have to admit, I'm a little surprised to see you this morning," Mel started.
"To be honest, I'm kinda surprised I'm sitting here."
"You're pissed, aren't you?"
"I'm not thrilled."
Mel narrowed her eyes at him. "Tay, what do you expect? What do you want from me?"
"I want YOU," he said quietly.
Mel sighed, already exasperated with this day and it wasn't even lunch yet. She had opted to wear her glasses that day and she now took them off and massaged the bridge of her nose. "You can't have your cake and eat it, too. Listen, I know you and I know how you are. But we're not teenagers anymore. You're not free to just go off on whoever you see fit that might lay a finger on me or something. You have a wife, who you obviously still love or else we wouldn't be having this conversation right now. You're going to have to accept the fact that I'm going to have a life for myself. Whether you decide you want to be part of it or not. I understand where you're coming from. I can't stand the fact that you're married. But I'm not sitting here telling you to stay with me and not go home to your wife every night."
Tay's hand found her desk, perhaps louder than he expected it to, and he leaned over her desk in a loud whisper. "Why? Why haven't you? Why won't you tell me to stay?!"
"Because it's not fair!" Mel hissed back. "Because if it were that easy, you'd have done it already!"
Taylor sank back into his seat and looked at Mel silently. Mel chose this time to just come out with her latest piece of information. "I'm taking Jason to Cabo. I didn't want you to find out from anyone else."
The blood drained from Tay's face and Mel could see the apparent shock. What she couldn't see was what would happen next.
In an instant, Tay was behind her desk, jerking her up out of her chair. He took her face in his hands and he kissed her deeply, desperately. After the initial shock wore off and against her better judgment, Mel felt herself kissing him back.
Suddenly, Tay broke the kiss and, with her face still in his hands, he said very bluntly, "Mel, I love you."
Mel's eyes widened at the bold statement. This couldn't seriously be happening.
"You know I do. I love you so much it hurts, Mel. I mean it."
Mel shook her head in his hands, feeling the tears stream down her face. "No. You can't do this to me. Not right now."
"I don't care what you have to say about it. I don't really care how you feel about it. But you need to know it--you NEED to understand it. And no matter what happens in Cabo--"
Mel looked away. She couldn't hear anymore.
Tay wouldn't allow it. He turned her face back to him. "No, look at me. Mel, no matter what happens in Cabo, just know that I'm going to be here when you get back. Okay? Count on it."
"This isn't fair," she whispered.
"Life isn't fair. But this is what it is."
The only thing Mel knew at that very moment was that she needed to get out of there. "I have to go."
"I love you."
"Please, Tay. Let me go."
He searched her eyes and, as if he feel the need to imprint it on her brain, he repeated himself once again. "I love you."
Everything was such a blur, she didn't remember him leaving her office.

ZAC
Zac was walking down the hallway when Mel came at him at full speed. He almost dodged her and made a comment when he realized that she was very visibly upset and chose to stop her instead. "Mel," he said, catching her in mid stride, turning her around. "Where are you going?"
He could tell that she was trying to quickly compose herself. "Uh, I'm gonna take the rest of the day off. I'm sorry."
"Well don't apologize to me. What's going on?" He wasn't sure what compelled him, but he felt the need to reach out to her. He pulled her in and wrapped her in a hug.
Apparently that was exactly what the doctor ordered. Before he knew it she was grabbing fistfuls of his shirt and was heavily sobbing, soaking his shoulder with tears. He thought a light hug and a friendly pat on the back was all he was in for, but he wasn't quite sure what to do with himself now. "Your brother is a fucking ASSHOLE!" her muffled voice came from his shoulder.
Zac rolled his eyes. "Why did I know it was something like this?"
She pulled away and wiped her eyes. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to--he just--I fucking hate him. I honestly do."
"No you don't."
"Well I want to. He's fucking--like, backing me into a corner. It's not fucking fair, Zac. He won't divorce Natalie but he expects me to just--I mean really?"
Zac nodded. God, he didn't want to be involved in this. He was the last person she needed to be opening up to about something like this. He was fighting his own demons, from Tay's side of the situation. But he
didn't like to see his friend like this either. Especially not if his brother was involved.
When Mel left, Zac walked into the studio. Tay was sitting on the sofa, bent over and adjusting his shoe. "Tay, I just spent the last couple of minutes consoling a very distraught Mel. What the hell did you do?"
"Distraught?" Tay smirked. "I made sure nothing was going to happen in Cabo." He went back to working on his shoe.
"What? Cabo?"
"Yeah," Tay said, matter-of-factly. "She's taking Jason to Cabo."
Zac had nothing to say to that. He raised his eyebrows. There were times when he found the position he was in with Drew to be very stressful and taxing on his emotions. But he wouldn't trade that for a day in Tay's
shoes any day of the week.
___________________________________________
The good thing about Mel traipsing off to Cabo for the week was that Drew spent a lot more time in the studio. She was about to take off, herself, to Ireland in two weeks, so Zac appreciated the extra time he got to see her, even if it was watching from afar as she bent over to look through a box of t-shirts, or flipping her hair out of her face as she wrote whatever she was writing on her clipboard. It killed him how she would throw a wink his way when she caught him watching or how she would smile at him when she walked
through his line of vision.
He and Isaac had a discussion at the beginning of the week about Taylor. They had agreed to keep an eye on him. The thing about Taylor was that he was so unpredictable, but so terribly predictable all at the same time. To them, Mel and Jason going off to Cabo wasn't much different than them going home together after the club that night, or even the previous week when he showed up at the studio. However, to Tay, it was like the end of the world. They believed that in Tay's mind, Mel was gone forever and he had blown it. He was very quiet that week and he constantly checked the time. Ike and Zac weren't sure why. Checking the time did nothing for the way Tay felt. But they let him do whatever he felt like he had to do. They were thankful that he was able to focus on the music as much as he was. They could only imagine what his home life had
been like lately.
One of these days was especially rough for Tay and he chose to call it a day around six. Ike was on board, as he and Nikki had plans to take the kids to dinner that night. Zac opted to hang around because he had had an
awesome day writing drum beats and he wanted to work on a couple more things.
He was in the zone when he noticed Drew standing in the doorway. Putting down his drumsticks, he smiled up at her. "Hey. How long have you been there?"
She smiled back at him, flirtatiously. "Long enough."
"What did you think?"
She took a few steps into the room. "I like everything you do."
Zac's smile widened. He knew this game all too well. "Shut the door," he instructed. "And lock it."
Obediently, Drew did as she was told, and walked over toward Zac. In an instant his hands were all over her. He was excited quickly. He'd never done anything like this in the studio before and the anticipation was
almost too much to bear.
It took almost no time for his hand to find its way up her shirt. He knew exactly where to go to make Drew go wild and he wasn't disappointed as he lightly squeezed her nipple and watched her face as she moaned in
pleasure. As he teased her, he brought his mouth eagerly to her neck and further teased with his tongue. Her breathing was heavy and her moans were so hot that his pants seemed to get tighter and tighter.
As if on cue, Drew's hands desperately found his pants and she quickly let his pants drop, releasing him against her. Kicking off his shoes and stepping out of his pants, he swiftly had her shirt over her head and her shorts across the room. Once again, she wore no underwear. The urge to have his tongue all over her body was almost insatiable.
Without thinking, he pushed her up against the soundboard, wrapping one of her long legs around him. There was no power on, so he wasn't worried about any of it. As it stood, as long as her hand wrapped around him the way it currently was, he wasn't really worried about ANYTHING else at the moment.
The way she handled and stroked him felt so good that it was only when he noticed the red light out of the corner of his eye that he was aware of his surroundings. "Shit!" he exclaimed.
Drew smiled. "You like that?"
Distracted for a moment, Zac bit his lip and groaned at her and then swiftly snapped out of it again. "No--I mean, yes. God, yes. But this light..." Quickly, he reached over and switched off the Record button.
Drew watched him turn off the light. "What was that?"
Zac smiled at her, comfortable in his surrounding again. "We don't want that button on. It would record every sound we made."
Drew smiled seductively. "Sounds kinda kinky to me." She squeezed him harder.
Zac sucked in his breath. "Mmmm, don't stop."
After a moment, Drew did stop. "What's in there?" She said, referring to the recording booth behind the glass.
"That's where we record," he answered breathlessly.
He watched her eyes darken suddenly. The way she looked at him at that moment was the hottest thing he had ever seen. "I want to fuck you in there."
"Let's go."
He grabbed her hand and wasted no time getting her behind the glass. There was a long table inside the booth and they stood at the end of it, exploring every inch of each other's bodies with their mouths. Without
warning, Drew pushed him back against the table.
The unspoken command led Zac to lay back on the table as he watched Drew crawl up on top of him. He wasn't sure if he could keep himself together long enough. She was so fucking hot, he wasn't quite sure what to do with himself when she straddled him on top of that table. Drew was in complete control and Zac chose to completely submit to her. What choice did he have? She took him in her hand and guided him inside her and the way she felt as she eased herself down on him almost sent his body into a whirlwind. She was so tight and so wet. He watched her as she rode him, watching her hips move with such a rhythm he didn't know was
possible. The only thing he did know is it felt good as hell and he held on to her tightly as she rode him.
Everything about her turned him on. Every single goddamn thing. From her endless legs, to her perfect breasts, to her long, golden hair--there wasn't a bit of her he didn't want. He could feel himself coming closer and he knew she was, too, as she began to speed up and change her rhythm. When she switched from back and forth to up and down, he watched her breasts bounce and he nearly lost his mind. The way she smelled, the way she looked, the way she felt--there was almost too much stimulation here. "Goddamn, you feel so good," he said to her through clinched teeth.
Her response was nothing more than a deep, seductive laugh that sent him absolutely over the edge. He couldn't remember the last time an orgasm felt so damn good.
He didn't wait for himself to calm down. He sat up, wrapped her legs around him on the table and swiftly slid his fingers inside her. Hooking his fingers just the right way, he slid them in and out and as he bent down
and took her nipple into his mouth. The position was uncomfortable as hell but he knew Drew and he knew it would only take a minute before she cried out for him.
She didn't disappoint. He was so thankful for the sound proof room at this moment. Even though he knew nobody was in the building, anyone could have heard her from a mile away. This did wonders for his ego and he smiled as he watched her calm down and return to Earth, looking him in the eye. She kissed him deeply and for a few moments they simply sat, kissing.
The last thing he heard her say before she dressed and left the room was, "That was so fucking hot."
Zac sat there, still naked, in a daze. She had used him. One hundred percent simply shown up in that room for sex and completely used him for it.
It was the hottest damn thing that had ever happened to him.

ISAAC
The next morning, Isaac and Taylor met at the studio. Zac was running late again. This was becoming the norm. Drew had taken up residence in Mel's office for the week and as they passed through, they said good morning to her and the girls. They could usually garner a little more conversation out of Drew in the mornings, but this morning she was quiet. It was a little odd, but they didn't have too much time to be worried. They had been hot on the trail of a great tune before they stopped the previous night and they were itching to get back in and finish it. They decided that they'd at least play back the session they recorded yesterday while they waited on Zac to show up.
Ike and Tay walked in the studio and right up to the mixer. Annoyed, Ike shook his head. "Dammit. Zac must have been messing around with something in here last night. I wish he wouldn't do that." He was referring to the switches on the mixer that had been set askew. When they worked on something and had to stop in the middle of it, they tried not to touch the mixer so it would be set the next day. Ike set them back in place as
best as he could remember.
"Okay," Ike said to the ever silent Taylor. "Let's get this played back and see what we're working with today."
Ike hit the Play button and shock spread across both brothers' faces. "What was that?" They heard Drew's voice say. Then Zac's voice came across. "We don't want that button on. It would record every sound we made." Then Drew again. "Sounds kinda kinky to me." And the rest was history.
They knew they shouldn't have kept listening but it was too late. They could not unhear anything they had just heard. Ike was flabbergasted and shocked. And while he didn't approve of his brother cheating on his
wife in any way, deep deep down in places he didn't like to talk about at parties, he was secretly rooting his brother on. Ike was almost jealous he and Nikki didn't do this first. Well, except for the part about recording
it. Hell, forget it, Ike was jealous of that, too. But he didn't dare vocalize it.
Tay, on the other hand, was losing his mind. Ike didn't know if his brother's laugh was hysterically maniacal due to the stress he'd been going through or if he was genuinely amused by what was going on, but he laughed like a mad man on ecstasy. Either way, it was good to see him laugh.
Tay's laugh was infectious and after a moment Ike followed suit. He knew his laughter was a mix between relief that Tay was still Tay and the stupidity of his younger brother. The player was still going as they
laughed and laughed. It felt good to laugh that hard. Suddenly, Ike got a text from Zac alerting him that he was finally there and he switched off the player instantly. "Tay, dry it up!" Ike hissed. "Zac's on his way in here."
Poor Taylor. He tried as hard as he could to compose himself. Ike knew it was difficult because he was having a hard time with it, too.
Zac sauntered in the room, barely looking up from his phone. "Sorry," he said. "There was traffic, and--"
Ike and Tay couldn't look at him. They knew if they did, it would be all over. Zac looked up from his phone. "What's going on?"
Tay shifted his weight back and forth and kept his face forward toward the sound booth as not to look at Zac. Ike was able to keep his composure a little better. "Uh, we were just going over what we recorded yesterday
while we waited on you. Wanna hear?"
Tay snickered beside him.
Zac was blissfully oblivious, putting his phone in his back pocket. "Yeah, sure," he said, genuinely interested.
"Uh, shut the door," Tay was able to creak out.
Zac shut the door and Ike turned the mixer on full blast. The room was filled with the sounds of passion from Zac's latest rendezvous. The blood drained from Zac's face and Ike and Tay lost control of their laughter.
Before Ike knew it, Zac was between them, pushing him and Tay out of the way. "GET RID OF IT!" Zac was hysterical, his hands all over the mixer. "TURN IT OFF! ERASE IT!"
"Careful, Zac. Isn't that how you got yourself in this mess in the first place?" Tay asked him.
Ike and Tay howled. When they were finally able to get it erased and Ike and Tay calmed down, Ike said, "Zac, how could you be so stupid?"
Zac scowled at both of them. "I don't want to talk about it." He slumped down behind his drum set and picked up his sticks, his face beet red with embarrassment. "Let's just do this."
At that moment there was a light knock on the door and Drew poked her head in. "Uh, Ike, there's a business call for you on line one."
Ike and Tay took one look at her and lost their minds all over again.

warning, Drew pushed him back against the table.
